3.3.7 Installing Line Cards

Line cards can be installed in slots 1 – 7 and 9 – 16. If you also plan to install a redundant Control Module, you can

install line cards in slots 1 – 7 and 10 – 16.

Figure 3-8 shows an example of how to install a line card. The procedure following the figure describes how to do this.

To install a line card perform the following steps:

1. If a cover plate is installed in the line card slot, remove the cover plate: loosen the screws on the

ejectors until the screws pop out, then open the ejectors and pull out the plate.

2. Open the ejectors at the top and bottom of the line card.

3. Align the backsheet of the line card between the card guides, as shown in Figure 3-8.

Warning Make sure that the backsheet (metal plate) of the line card and not the circuit

card is between the card guides. Check both the upper and lower tracks.
